When you have a very special person to make a card for, why not make a very special personalised card? With the new Art Deco Alphabet die sets its so easy

I have made an oval frame using the Double Pierced Oval die sets and the Lattice Frame die for the centrepiece. The colours are Lilac and Rich Plum. The background is embossed with the very popular Falling Snow embossing folder, another thumbs up for, not just for Christmas idea!
The fan is simply made from Ornamental Accents die set and the scalloped circles are made from old punches. Finally the centre flower is made from the Orange Blossom die set complete petals and the Camelia open petals die set as the centre of the flower.

Difference in Double Pierced Die sets

Anyhow, I digress. I have just done a little sample or two to show you the difference between the two sets of Double Pierced dies, in this case the Circle sets, but the same theory applies with all the shapes in this collection, Rectangles, Squares and Ovals

So, if you have just one set of Double Pierced dies, each die is 1/4" bigger than the next, giving this margin shown in the photo, which, of course is fine for many projects. Here I have cut the smallest four dies.

If however you have treated yourself to BOTH the Double Pierced die sets, the increase in size, by using both sets will give you a much narrower margin, in fact 1/8" between each layer. In this photo, I have cut the four smallest dies from Set A in white and the four smallest dies from Set B in black to show you the difference. Remember, it is the same increment in all the Double Pierced die sets, hope this has helped.

A Ray of Angelic Light

A fairly simple card today and another using the Ray of light die.

I have cut the die out twice to give a little shadowing effect, once in Milk Foundation card and then again in Antique Gold Pearl Foundation card.

Taking a piece of milk card, I added a piece of double sided adhesive sheet to this and then drew around the Angel die by hand to give just the outline and cut this by hand. The Angel was then from Antique Gold Pearl Foundation card and stuck onto the sticky outline base. Gold Micro beads were then added to the whole design. Finally, a shadowed 'Peace' from the Holly Framed Peace set just to finish this simple card off.

Amazing Madeleine

Wow! What a fantastic new range of dies from Sue Wilson launched this week and for todays card I have used the beautiful Madeleine from the Frames and Tags Collection with Striped Swirl edger.

The card stock colours are Iris and Coconut White, a lovely crisp combination. 

The background is embossed with the Falling Snow embossing folder, I have yet to use this one for a Christmas card! The centre panels are made using the centre of the Butterfly Frame, mounted onto double sided adhesive sheet and then sprinkled with Diamond Sprinkles. Have you noticed the way the Stitched Flags are threaded through Madeleine? Ribbon would look lovely too!

Enjoy making a frame

This is a card that started out as going to be something quite different but I'm really pleased with the finished card. I wanted to show you how easy it is to make the Double Pierced frame so I have done some step by step photos for you.

It really doesnt matter what size die you start with, but you need the two sets of Double Pierced Squares to achieve this particular frame. So, to start choose three of the dies, the largest and the smallest die would be from Set A Double Pierced squares and the middle die would be from Set B Double Pierced Squares. 

Take the largest one, and tape to the card, paying particular attention as to where you put the tape. It must be ALONG the edge, not over it.

Next, add the middle die, taping in the same way, along the edge and finally the smallest die in the same way. The reason that you should place the tape like this is that you need to remove the middle die BEFORE cutting and placing the tape like this allows you to do that easily.

Once the three dies are in place, run them through your die cutting machine with the tan mat and embossing plate.

Carefully remove the centre die and you will see the embossed image. If your machines plates are very strong, it may have cut through in places in which case just add a bit of tape to the back of the frame to ensure its kept in place. You then need to run the two remaining dies through using the cutting plates.

A very Special Thank You card

Todays card is for a very Special person, my Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World!

It therefore had to be a very special card, to thank her for all my wonderful birthday pressies. Flowers seemed to be the order of the day, paper ones that last so much longer than the cut variety, a splash of glitter, a leaf or two and must not forget the butterfly!

So I chose the Delicate Daisies Complete petal die set in various sizes for the centrepiece. I love to 'mould' these flowers, they work so well. I then cut some Dandelion Clock dies and popped a spot of cosmic Shimmer Aqua Twinkles on each seed head.

The leaves are both Orange Blossom leaves and Delicate Fronds, Wow what a selection!

The butterfly charm is from a friends craft shop, so beautiful! The background die is the Scalloped Petite Adornment , its gives a lovely effect just peeping out from the background. 

Finally, the card is a simple Oval Easel card made from Aqua Foundation card using the Double Pierced Oval die set.
